Vancouver – British Columbia Securities Commission panels have reciprocated enforcement orders against a person convicted by the Provincial Court of British Columbia, and nine other individuals sanctioned by securities commissions in Canada.

Under a section of the Securities Act that allows the commission to issue enforcement orders based on criminal convictions, a commission panel permanently banned from our markets Rod Woodward, who was found guilty by the Provincial Court of two counts of theft over $5,000 and two counts of fraud in excess of $5,000.

The Provincial Court found that Woodward, then employed as a financial advisor with Investor’s Group, deposited $185,000 of clients’ money into his own bank account rather than investing the funds in a company called Black Sea Minerals Incorporated.

BCSC panels also reciprocated orders against nine persons sanctioned by the Alberta and Ontario Securities Commissions. They are:

David C. Campbell
Abel Da Silva
Gurdip Singh Gahunia (a.k.a. Michael Gahunia)
Robert John Harris
Timothy Kwan
Claudio Fernando Maya
Alan S. Price
Julian M. Sylvester
Ravinder Tulsiani

For more information on the orders, search for the person’s name at www.bcsc.bc.ca. Their names will also appear on a disciplined persons list, and, if they are cease-traded, a cease trade order database. You can access these databases on our website on the enforcement page.

The Canadian Securities Administrators (CSA) maintains national databases for disciplined persons and cease trade orders. These databases include all persons in Canada disciplined for securities trading offences. You can access these databases through our databases for disciplined persons and cease trade orders.

The B.C. Securities Commission is the independent provincial government agency responsible for regulating trading in securities within the province. If you have questions, contact Richard Gilhooley, media relations, 604-899-6713.
