October is Investor Education Month and the British Columbia Securities Commission (BCSC) is proud to announce the launch of two new investor education videos that supplement the Guide to Investing: How to be an Empowered Investor. The BCSC is also encouraging people to explore the new Planning 10: Finances section of its InvestRight.org website.

The new videos are designed to strengthen foundational investing knowledge for retail investors. The videos Informed Investing: Investment Fees and Informed Investing: Titles and Designations  break down the importance of asking questions and being informed before making investment decisions.

"We created short, animated videos to make crucial information highly accessible and easy to understand," says Pamela McDonald, BCSC Director, Communications and Education. "The videos empower investors to ask questions and to do their research when choosing and working with a financial advisor."

In June, BCSC InvestRight released the first video in its Informed Investing series, Informed Investing: Private Placements. This video was developed to accompany the Guide to Investing: The Private Placement Market for Retail Investors, which focuses on how the private market works, how it differs from the public markets, and sets out the risks of business failure and fraud within this market.

The BCSC's award-winning Planning 10: Finances resource and classroom materials are now available on InvestRight.org

British Columbians should also watch for investor education tweets throughout October on @BCSCInvestRight and posts on the BCSC InvestRight Facebook page for helpful tips and information.
