Background:

The Manitoba Securities Commission (MSC) issued an investor alert on February 6, 2012, warning the public about an advanced fee scheme being perpetrated by Goldman and Lyle Consulting Group (Goldman and Lyle), a firm purporting to be located in Winnipeg, Manitoba, which was soliciting shareholders of various legitimate publicly traded companies in the United Kingdom. 

The MSC also said that a similar scheme was recently conducted by Drexel-Bearns Consulting Group (Drexel-Bearns), whose website was virtually identical to that of Goldman and Lyle.

Neither Goldman and Lyle nor Drexel-Bearns is registered to trade in, or advise on, securities in British Columbia.

We urge British Columbia residents to exercise caution when dealing with firms that are not registered to trade or advise in British Columbia.
