This advance notice announces our intention to adopt rules and guides to implement the new Securities Act. The rules replace the current Securities Rules, the Securities Regulation, the Registration Transfer Rules, BC Instrument 45-501 Mortgages and BC Instrument 45-502 Cooperative Associations as well as various local exemptive instruments. If the Minister approves the rules, they will be effective November 15, 2004.

• CSA Notice 51-309 - Acceptance of Certain Foreign Professional Boards as a Professional Organization

This staff notice updates and replaces the information in CSA Staff Notice 51-309 originally dated January 19, 2004 and updated June 8, 2004. It advises that, as of October 4, 2004, the American Institute of Professional Geologists has been added to the list of accepted professional organizations for the purposes of National Instrument 51-101 Standards of Disclosure for Oil and Gas Activities.

This notice discusses CSA Staff Notice 52-308 which provides an update on the status of a proposed rule that would impose reporting requirements for a reporting issuer's internal controls over financial reporting. CSA Staff Notice 52-308 says that the earliest the proposed rule would apply is for financial years ending before June 30, 2006.
