  • CSA Staff Notice 52-324 - Issues relating to changeover to International Financial Reporting Standards

    This notice updates the market on staff's views on certain issues relating to the changeover to International Financial Reporting Standards, in particular:
    • what issuers who want to start using IFRS before the mandatory effective date will need to do to comply with securities legislation once IFRS is incorporated into the CICA Handbook - Accounting as Canadian GAAP for publicly accountable enterprises,
    • staff's proposal that issuers will be required to include a transition date balance sheet with their first interim financial statements in the first year issuers adopt IFRS,
    • staff's proposal for referring to IFRS instead of Canadian GAAP in issuers' financial statements and auditor's reports accompanying those financial statements,
    • relief staff is considering to ease the implementation of IFRS, including relief from requirements to present all information in financial statements using the same accounting policies and from the filing deadlines for the first interim financial statements filed in the first year of adoption of IFRS.
