Securities Law Advisory Committee (SLAC)
SLAC is a volunteer committee of up to 14 securities law practitioners who:
- advise the BCSC on rules and policy initiatives,
- provide important feedback on capital market and regulatory trends, and
- act as a consultative body on emerging and important issues.
The committee members represent a cross-section of expertise and cover a broad spectrum of securities market activities in BC.
The Chair of the BCSC appoints new SLAC members in consultation with existing SLAC members after a transparent search process. Each SLAC member is appointed on a staggered basis for a renewable three-year term. The vice-chair of the Securities Law Subsection of the Canadian Bar Association’s BC Branch, a position that rotates every year, also serves on the committee.
