BCN 2001/01 - BC Policy 15-601 Commission Hearings - Request for Comment [BCN - Rescinded]

The Commission is proposing to adopt BC Policy 15-601 “Commission Hearings” to replace Local Policy Statement 3-12 “Rules for Proceedings”.

The Policy has been reorganized and redrafted on plain language principles.  Several sections have been added.  These include:

  • guidelines for disclosure of evidence by Commission staff and respondents,
  • a description of the settlement process,
  • a description of the criteria used by the Commission in determining whether to proceed by way of a new hearing when considering a hearing and review,
  • information about the Commission’s computer-based real time reporting system,
  • guidelines for media coverage of hearings, and
  • timing guidelines for the release of decisions.

Forms 1 and 2 will also be renumbered as Forms 15-601F1 and 15-601F2.

Comments

The Commission requests comments on the proposed Policy.  Please submit your comments on or before February 19, 2001 and include a diskette in Windows format, preferably Word.  Send your comments to:

Comment letters are part of the public record unless confidentiality is requested.  Although comment letters requesting confidentiality will not be placed on the public file, freedom of information legislation may require the Commission to make them available.
