BCN 2001/26 - Web-posted Notice Confirming Registration [BCN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 2001-04-27
Effective Date: 2001-04-26

The Executive Director has adopted BC Instrument 31-502 relating to posting notice on the B.C. Securities Commission website to communicate an applicant’s registration. It will come into effect on June 1, 2001.

Section 34(3) of the Securities Act prohibits a person applying for registration from trading in a security or an exchange contract, acting as an underwriter, or acting as an adviser until the person has received written confirmation of registration from the Executive Director.

To facilitate a more efficient registration process, the Executive Director will no longer issue registration certificates, either in written or electronic form. Instead, the Executive Director will post notice of the registration of an applicant on a website maintained by the Commission at www.bcsc.bc.ca, with the expectation that a person applying for registration will monitor the website to determine the person's registration status.
