BCN 2004/01 - Membership in the Securities Law Advisory Committee [BCN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 2004-01-05
Effective Date: 2004-01-05

The Commission is seeking expressions of interest from British Columbia securities law practitioners who are interested in becoming members of the Securities Law Advisory Committee (SLAC).

We are looking for two to three additional members who, together with existing members, will provide a cross-section of expertise and cover the spectrum of securities law practice in British Columbia. SLAC is composed of ten to twelve members, consisting of the Vice-Chair of the Securities Law Subsection of the British Columbia branch of the Canadian Bar Association and nine to eleven other members.

The terms of existing members are staggered, with two ending on March 2004, four ending on March 31, 2005 and four ending on March 31, 2006. Following this search process, we plan to appoint two to three individuals for a term of three years starting on April 1, 2004 and ending on March 31, 2007.

SLAC advises the Commission on legal and policy issues relating to securities regulation and provides an important link between the Commission and the securities bar for consultation on emerging or important issues.

If you are a securities law practitioner and would like to become a member of SLAC, please forward your resume to the attention of the Chair of the Commission no later than February 6, 2004.
