NIN 99/11 - Advance Notice Amendment to National Instrument 14-101 Definitions [NIN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 1999-03-26
Effective Date: 1999-03-25

National Instrument 14-101 - Definitions was adopted by the Canadian Securities Administrators ("CSA") effective April 1, 1997. The CSA intends to amend National Instrument 14-101 effective July 1, 1999.

The amendment to National Instrument 14-101 is expected to come into force as a rule in British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia, as a Commission regulation in Saskatchewan, and as a policy in all other jurisdictions represented by the CSA. The Commission has not yet made the amendment as a rule. This Advance Notice is being published to provide notice that the Commission expects to make the rule on July 1, 1999, when the amendment is expected to come into force in the other CSA jurisdictions.

When made, the rule and related documents will be published in the Weekly Summary. The Commission anticipates publishing the rule and related documents in June, 1999, after it has received all necessary approvals.

The amendment will add a number of new definitions to National Instrument 14-101. The amendment will also change the reference to the Northwest Territories in Appendix C, and modify certain other provisions of National Instrument 14-101.

The Commission published for comment the proposed rule on September 11, 1998 (NIN#98/58). No written comments were received.

DATED at Vancouver, British Columbia, on March 25, 1999

Douglas M. Hyndman
