Media invited: Experts discuss challenges facing investors today and new national investor research at BCSC conference

Vancouver - On Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, the British Columbia Securities Commission’s annual Capital Ideas conference will bring together a panel of experts to discuss the challenges facing investors in the 21st century, particularly in the face of the current global financial crisis. National research will provide the basis for discussion with Canadian, U.S. and Australian panelists. The panel is moderated by the CBC’s Ian Hanomansing.

B.C. Finance Minister, Colin Hansen, will open the conference. BCSC chair, Doug Hyndman, will act as host. Panel members:

  • David Agnew, Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investments
  • Tom Bradley, President, Steadyhand Investment Funds and former President and CEO of Phillips, Hager and North, a large asset manager
  • Greg Lyle, Managing Director, Innovative Research. In addition to leading the CSA investor research in 2006 and 2007, Innovative Research is leading the research that will be released at the conference
  • Delia Rickard, Senior Executive for Consumers and Retail Investors, Australian Securities and Investments Commission
  • Tanya Solov, Director, Illinois Securities Department
  • Larry M. Waite, President and CEO, Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada
