About the Securities Act
The Securities Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 418, is the statute that establishes B.C.'s securities laws and gives the BC Securities Commission its powers and duties.
On March 27, 2020, amendments to the Securities Act came into force by order in council (B.C. Reg. 45/2020), together with consequential amendments to the Securities Regulation, the Securities Rules, and numerous other instruments and documents. The order in council, which was published with BC Notice 2020/04, as well as BC notice 2020/03, describe these amendments.
On July 17, 2023, additional amendments to the Securities Act came into force by order in council (OIC 468/2023), together with a consequential amendment to the Securities Regulation. The order in council as well as BC Notice 2023/07, describe these amendments.

On April 8, 2024, amendments to the Securities Regulation that amended the fees the BCSC charges came into force by order in council (B.C. Reg 84/2024). The order in council was published with BC Notice 2024/01, which describes the changes. As a consequence, we have also updated BC Form 11-901F Fee Checklist. Note that as of April 8, 2024, the link to the Securities Regulation does not reflect the amendments. Until the Kings Printer updates the Securities Regulation to include the amendments, the version of the Securities Regulation linked above must be read with together with the order in council.
