Vancouver – The British Columbia Securities Commission announced today, the appointment of Teresa Mitchell-Banks Q.C. as Director of Enforcement, and Peter Brady as Director of Corporate Finance. 

“I look forward to working with Peter and Teresa as part of the executive team,” said Paul Bourque, Executive Director. “Teresa is an experienced litigator who has managed teams of lawyers prosecuting complex, high-profile cases. Peter brings valuable industry experience gained in the private sector and at the Commission.”

Mitchell-Banks comes to the BCSC from the BC Ministry of Justice, where she was the Deputy Director, Criminal Appeals and Special Prosecutions. At the Ministry, she managed a group of lawyers dedicated to special prosecutions, including commercial crime, serious fraud, and organized crime. She has also been a senior trial counsel for the Ministry, and a defence counsel in private practice. Mitchell-Banks holds a law degree from the University of British Columbia, and a Masters in Criminology from Simon Fraser University.

Brady joins the BCSC from Qtrade Financial Group, where he was General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. At Qtrade, Brady provided legal advice to a number of the company’s business units. Prior to joining Qtrade, he worked as Senior Enforcement Counsel for the BCSC, and Counsel, Business and Legal Affairs at Sextant Entertainment Group Inc. Brady holds a law degree from the University of Victoria, and a B.A. (Honours) from Queen’s University.
