BCSC dismisses Ashton Mining’s cease-trade application

Vancouver - A British Columbia Securities Commission panel has dismissed an application submitted by a North Vancouver, B.C.-based diamond exploration company seeking to cease-trade an unsolicited bid by another Vancouver-based diamond explorer.

In an oral decision made today, the commission panel dismissed the application by Ashton Mining of Canada Inc., a TSX-listed company. Ashton was asking the regulator to cease-trade an offer for its shares by Stornoway Diamond Corp., also listed on the TSX.

The commission panel said reasons for the decision will follow.
