Chinese community warned of investment scams

Vancouver -- The B.C. Securities Commission is warning Lower Mainland’s Chinese community about investment frauds and scams by delivering its popular free investor education seminar series in partnership with AM1320 CHMB Radio.

The seminar, “Investigate Before You Invest,” will show people how to protect themselves and their investments from frauds and unscrupulous salespeople. Novice to expert investors will learn how to identify an investment scam, how to check out the background of a financial adviser and how to determine if an investment is suitable for them.

There will be two seminars delivered in Cantonese by CHMB radio personalities Raymond Chow and Susanna Low at the CHMB Radio Station facilities on Sunday, March 21, 2004. A second session is planned for the following Sunday, March 28.
