Vancouver - On Wednesday, Oct. 31, a panel of international and Canadian experts at Capital Ideas 2007 will discuss how to improve regulatory and criminal enforcement against securities violators in Canada. The panel will also debate international cooperation in securities law enforcement. The BCSC's Capital Ideas 2007 conference will bring together business leaders, securities industry professionals and senior enforcement officials.

Doug Hyndman, British Columbia Securities Commission chair, will host the event and the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Ian Hanomansing will moderate an open dialogue between:

• Michael Code, law professor, University of Toronto, and formerly assistant deputy attorney general for criminal law, Ontario
• Carlos Conceicao, partner, Clifford Chance, London, and formerly head of the FSA's Wholesale Group in Enforcement
• Mary Condon, law professor, Osgoode Hall Law School
• Mark Steward, executive director of enforcement, Securities and Futures Commission, Hong Kong
• Ethiopis Tafara, director of international affairs, SEC
• David Wilson, chair, Ontario Securities Commission
