Vancouver – The British Columbia Securities Commission has confirmed that it is conducting a regulatory investigation into anonymous allegations against Silvercorp Metals Inc. The allegations were made in an anonymous letter dated August 29, 2011 and addressed to the Ontario Securities Commission, Silvercorp’s auditors and various media outlets.

The BCSC is examining both the nature of the complaint and the allegations contained in the letter.

Silvercorp is cooperating fully with the investigation into the allegations contained in the complaint.

“This is a departure from the BCSC’s usual policy of keeping investigations confidential, but we feel it is necessary in order to conduct a balanced and thorough review to publicly ask the author of the complaint to come forward” said Lang Evans, Director of Enforcement for the BCSC.

The BCSC is asking the author of the complaint, or anyone else who may have information related to the allegations or the identity of the author, to contact Michael Pesunti of the BCSC Enforcment division at 1-800-373-6393 or 604-899-6500.

If you have questions, contact Richard Gilhooley, media relations, 604-899-6713.
