  • BC Notice 2002/46 - New Proposals for Mutual Fund Regulation

This BCN announces that the Commission is publishing for comment its paper New Proposals for Mutual Fund Regulation.

The Proposals describe a complete regime for mutual fund regulation (with the exception of civil remedies). Elements overlap with other CSA and Joint Forum Initiatives. Our goal is not to develop a stand-alone regime for mutual fund regulation in British Columbia. We are putting these Proposals forward for discussion so that industry and other stakeholders can consider them in the context of all initiatives currently under way. The goal is to arrive at a national approach that incorporates the best ideas.

The main Proposals in the paper relate to:

    • Distribution of Mutual Funds, including disclosure for public mutual funds and a regime for non-public and foreign mutual funds.
    • Codes of Conduct for mutual fund companies, advisers and mutual fund dealers.

We will consider everything received before January 31, 2003.

  • CSA Staff Notice 55-308 - Questions on Insider Reporting

This CSA Staff Notice publishes a list of questions and answers to help insider reporting filers to better understand the insider trade reporting requirements under the provincial securities laws across Canada. It should also help insiders meet their insider reporting obligations. These reporting requirements apply regardless whether a filer reports in paper, as currently required, or in electronic form after the System for Electronic Disclosure by Insiders (SEDI) becomes available. The CSA intends to publish additional questions and answers specifically applicable to SEDI at a later date.
