David Laundy, VSE  689-3334

Notice of a joint hearing by the British Columbia Securities Commission and the Vancouver Stock Exchange was released today in the matter of Aatra Resources Ltd., Victor J. Meunier, Joanne S. McClusky, Paul A. Quinn, Ralph A.A. Simpson, Joel Machtinger, Henry P.M. Huber, Alex Pancer, David J. Foster and Durham Securities Corporation Limited.

The Notice is the result of an extensive joint investigation by Vancouver Stock Exchange and Securities Commission staff undertaken after a preliminary trading investigation by the Exchange disclosed trading irregularities. The Notice includes, among other things, allegations that some of the respondents took part in a collapse of the public distribution of the shares of Aatra immediately after its listing on the VSE and that the share price was artificially raised before the shares were resold to investors.

The joint hearing - the first involving both institutions - is scheduled to proceed before the Securities Commission at 1304 - 865 Hornby Street, Vancouver, at 10:00 a.m. on October 3, 1991.

Trading in the shares of Aatra has been halted by the Exchange since March 16, 1990 and a cease trade order by the Superintendent has been in effect since March 23, 1990.

Copies of the Notice may be obtained, in person, from the B.C. Securities Commission and the Vancouver Stock Exchange
