About the Securities Act
The Securities Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 418, is the statute that establishes B.C.'s securities laws and gives the BC Securities Commission its powers and duties.
On March 27, 2020, amendments to the Securities Act came into force by order in council (B.C. Reg. 45/2020), together with consequential amendments to the Securities Regulation, the Securities Rules, and numerous other instruments and documents. The order in council, which was published with BC Notice 2020/04, as well as BC notice 2020/03, describe these amendments. Once available from BC Laws, the above link to the Securities Act will take you to a consolidated version of the Act that includes all amendments that are in force. Until that consolidation is available, you can find the text of the amendments on the BC Legislative Assembly’s website here.
