Background:
On July 6, 2012, the Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) added Knox Securities Corp. LLC (Knox) to its Warning List, a list that contains the names of individuals and companies that appear to be engaging in activities that may pose a risk to investors.
According to the OSC posting, Knox was soliciting members of the public that hold shares in companies that appear to be illiquid, to sell those shares for them at a substantial premium. Knox representatives told members of the public that they would have to send an advance fee payment before their securities could be sold by Knox.
The OSC also said that Knox is not located at the address provided on its website.
Knox is not registered to trade in or advise on securities in British Columbia. We urge British Columbia residents to exercise caution when dealing with firms that are not registered to trade or advise in British Columbia.
