Published Date: 2000-03-31
Effective Date: 2000-03-31

Effective January 1, 1996, the Commodity Contract Act, R.S.B.C. 1979, c. 56 (the "CCA"), was repealed. Pursuant to section 36 of the Interpretation Act, R.B.S.C. 1996, c. 238, Blanket Orders issued under the CCA continue to have effect to the extent that the provisions of the CCA were continued under the Securities Act. Having reviewed the CCA BORs, the Commission is publishing a Blanket Order to replace CCA BOR#89/7 and a Revocation Order to revoke CCA BOR#89/7 and all the other CCA BORs.

Blanket Order 22-501 (BC) recognizes exchanges outside British Columbia for the purposes of trading in an exchange contract by a registrant on behalf of another person under section 59(1) of the Securities Act. BOR#2000/3 revokes CCA BOR#89/1, CCA BOR#89/3, CCA BOR#89/4, CCA BOR#89/5, CCA BOR#89/6, CCA BOR#89/7, CCA BOR#91/1, CCA BOR#91/2, BOR#89/1 and BOR#91/8 effective March 31, 2000.

Since the publication of CCA BOR#89/7, several exchanges have merged with other exchanges, new exchanges have come into existence and others have ceased to exist. Registrants trading in exchange contracts on behalf of another person on an exchange that has not been recognized under BOR#22-501 (BC) may apply to the Commission to have the exchange recognized.
