NIN 2000/34 - Report on Mutual Fund Governance [NIN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 2000-07-28
Effective Date: 2000-07-27

On July 27, 2000, the Canadian Securities Administrators (“CSA”) released “Making It Mutual: Aligning the Interests of Investors and Managers - Recommendations for a Mutual Fund Governance Regime for Canada”. The report was written by Stephen Erlichman, Senior Partner, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, Toronto.

The report is being released at this time to ensure that the mutual fund industry and the Canadian public have the opportunity to consider the issues surrounding mutual fund governance in advance of any proposal by the CSA to enter into this new area of mutual fund regulation. As an early part of this process, staff of the British Columbia Securities Commission will consult during the fall with mutual fund managers based in British Columbia.

The report is available on the Ontario Securities Commission’s website at www.osc.gov.on.ca.

DATED at Vancouver, British Columbia, on July 27, 2000.
