NIN 95/50 - Two Further Information Sessions on Securities Rules, Amendments to the Securities Act and Repeal and Replacement of the Securities Regulation and Registration Transfer Regulation [NIN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 1995-12-15
Effective Date: 1995-12-14
The Commissions Special Supplement to the Weekly Summary, published for the week ending November 24, 1995, contained the Securities Rules, a substantial package of amendments to the Securities Act,a repealed and replaced Securities Regulation and Registration Transfer Regulation, and certain forms. These amendments will be brought into force effective January 1, 1996.

The Commission was under tight time constraints when publishing the legislative initiatives. To help securities industry participants understand the amendments before they become effective, the Commission held five information sessions from December 5 to 7. These sessions, directed at specific industry sectors, provided a general overview of the amendments and directed participants attention to the elements most likely to affect them.

Not all securities industry participants received timely notice of the information sessions held in December. Accordingly, the Commission will conduct two more information sessions for securities industry participants in early January:

Industry Participants
Issuers and lawyersJanuary 109-11:30 a.m.Robson Square Conference Centre
RegistrantsJanuary 102-4:30 p.m.Robson Square Conference Centre

These sessions will be a repeat of information sessions held in December. The two information sessions in January will therefore be of interest to securities industry participants who were unable to attend the information sessions in December.

The Commission will be offering similar information sessions in Kamloops, Kelowna, Prince George and Victoria in the last two weeks of January. The dates and times of these sessions will be announced shortly.

We hope you will be able to attend an information session. Please confirm the attendance from your office no later than January 8, 1996 at 12:00 noon by contacting the Commissions 12th floor reception desk at 660-4800 or, toll free in B.C., 1-800-373-6393.

Additional copies of the Special Supplement are available for pick up from the Commissions 11th floor receptionist from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at a cost of $15 each. If more than three copies are required, you will be asked to make arrangements to have them picked up from the 11th floor receptionist.
