NIN 96/01 - Information Sessions in Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George and Victoria [NIN - Rescinded]

Published Date: 1996-01-05
Effective Date: 1996-01-04
The Commissions Special Supplement to the Weekly Summary for the week ending November 24, 1995 contained the Securities Rules, a substantial package of amendments to the Securities Act, a repealed and replaced Securities Regulation and Registration Transfer Regulation, and certain forms. These amendments reflect a number of important initiatives of the Government and the Commission, as well as the response of the Government to the Matkin Report. The amendments will be brought into force effective January 1, 1996.

The amendments to the Act were all previously published in the Weekly Summary in 1989, 1990, 1992 and in the summer of 1995. The bulk of the amendments to the Regulation and Registration Transfer Regulation were published for comment in October 1994, at which time information sessions for securities industry participants were held in Vancouver to explain the provisions and to receive comment on them. The Commission also held a series of information sessions about the initiatives in Vancouver in December and will be holding two more information sessions in Vancouver in January.

To help securities industry participants in Kelowna, Kamloops, Prince George and Victoria understand the proposals that will soon be in effect, the Commission will be holding information sessions in each of these centres. The sessions will provide a general overview of the amendments and direct participants attention to the elements most likely to affect them.

Securities industry participants are accordingly invited to attend one of the following sessions:
