Published Date: 1998-10-02
Effective Date: 1998-10-02
Rescinded Date: 2001-01-31
Document(s):

The Canadian Securities Administrators ("CSA") and the Canadian stock exchanges have approved various enhancements and changes to the SEDAR Filer Software which will be introduced in the next version of the software referred to as Release 5.0. Release 5.0 is scheduled to be implemented in early October 1998. The enhancements in Release 5.0 provide additional functionality for electronic filers and filing agents that have access to SEDAR as "Filing Service Subscribers" and are engaged in the electronic filing process. A revised version of the SEDAR Filer Manual is currently being prepared to incorporate changes in procedures and guidelines arising out of the changes to the SEDAR Filer Software.

Principal Enhancements and Changes

  • With the introduction of Release 5.0 of the SEDAR Filer Software, filing service subscribers will be able to file with the Canadian stock exchanges and the Canadian Dealing Network (collectively, the "market centres") documents that are specific to the market centres. Please refer to the Filer Notes for SEDAR Release 5.0 for detailed information.
  • Filing Service Subscribers will now be able to file certain local securities offering filings jointly in one Project when filing with the British Columbia Securities Commission and the Vancouver Stock Exchange or with the Alberta Securities Commission and the Alberta Stock Exchange.
  • With the migration to Release 5.0 software from Release 4.0, the local SEDAR filings database, profile database, search queries and default settings will be retained.
  • New mandatory fields have been added to the Cover Page screens for certain Filing Types made under the Continuous Disclosure Category of Filing. These fields are for the identification of the period and date covered by the filing attached or the date of the meeting to which the attached material relates.
  • The Cover Page screen for Securities Acquisition Filings (Early Warning Reports) for a third party filer has been changed to require a profile for both the Filer Name (Offeror) and the Issuer Name (Offeree).
  • Filing service subscribers will be able to attach to a filing a document that has previously been submitted to the SEDAR server as part of another filing.
  • An asterisk (*) will appear beside the Project number on the Filing Management/Search Filings report screens to identify Projects for previous issuers and on the Profile Management/Search Profile report screens to identify profiles for previous issuers in certain types of searches when the fields being searched on are Issuer/Filer Name - English, Issuer/Filer Name - French or Profile Number. Please refer to section 6.4(d) of the SEDAR Filer Manual for more information relating to previous issuers.
  • The stock symbol field has been added to the Issuer Profile as a new mandatory field. Filing Service Subscribers must update Issuer Profiles by completing this field before submitting filings to the SEDAR server. The current Issuer Profile will have to be updated prior to filing a new Submission in Release 5.0.
  • A new Filing Type for SHAIF filings under British Columbia’s Local Policy Statement 3.27 and Alberta’s Rule 45-501 has been added to the Continuous Disclosure category.
  • A new document access level of "Private-Draft" has been added.
  • A "Cancel" button has been added to the SEDAR connect window for dial-up users.
