BC INTERPRETATION NOTE 31-702

Web-Posted Notice Confirming Registration

Section 34(3) of the Securities Act says that a person applying for registration cannot conduct activities that require registration until the person receives written confirmation of registration. The Electronic Transactions Act, S.B.C. 2001, c. 10 says that the requirement for written confirmation can be satisfied in electronic form. As a result, the Executive Director no longer provides certificates of registration in paper form. Instead of certificates, we now post confirmation of registration on the Commission’s website at www.bcsc.bc.ca in the registration portion of the BCSC Databases.
