In the attached advance notice, the Canadian Securities Administrators announce the expected adoption of new versions of National Instrument 43-101 Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects, technical report form and related companion policy, effective June 30, 2011. These would replace the current versions of NI 43-101, technical report form and companion policy.

The CSA has also approved related amendments to

  • National Instrument 44-101 Short Form Prospectus Distributions
  • Form 51-102F1 Management’s Discussion and Analysis
  • Form 51-102F2 Annual Information Form
  • National Instrument 45-106 Prospectus and Registration Exemptions
  • National Instrument 45-101 Rights Offerings

The new NI 43-101 and related amendments reflect the results of industry consultations and experience with the mining rule since its initial adoption in February 2001. The main purpose of the changes is to make the mining rule more effective and cost-efficient without compromising investor protection.
