In the attached advance notice, the Canadian Securities Administrators announce the expected adoption of National Instrument 52-107 Acceptable Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards (NI 52-107) and its Companion Policy 52-107CP. These would replace the current versions of NI 52-107 and Companion Policy 52-107CP.

The CSA has also approved related amendments to:

  • National Instrument 14-101 Definitions
  • National Instrument 13-101 System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval (SEDAR)
  • National Instrument 21-101 Marketplace Operations
  • National Instrument 52-110 Audit Committees
  • National Instrument 54-101 Communication with Beneficial Owners of Securities of a Reporting Issuer
  • Multilateral Instrument 11-102 Passport System and its Companion Policy
  • Multilateral Instrument 62-104 Take-over Bids and Issuer Bids
  • National Policy 12-202 Revocation of a Compliance-related Cease Trade Order
  • National Policy 12-203 Cease Trade Orders for Continuous Disclosure Defaults

The new NI 52-107, Companion Policy 52-107CP and the related amendments address changes to securities regulation arising from the changeover to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in Canada and have an effective date of January 1, 2011. We will publish unofficial consolidated versions of the policy documents upon the effective date.
